HOUSTON - The construction pipeline for multifamily projects in Houston has slowed, as developers remain skittish about adding units to a city already saturated with rentals.

Stream Realty Partners is buying land in Copperfield and Cinco Ranch to develop high-end apartment complexes for those 55 and older. The company also has identified sites in Austin and San Antonio.

Units will range from around 650 to 1,300 sf of living space, including one-bedroom, one-bath efficiencies to units with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study.

Rents will range from about $999 to $1,699 per month.

The units and buildings have been designed specifically for the targeted demographic.

The three-story complexes will have fewer units, more elevators than traditional apartment project, and will connect to a large clubhouse where the community will regularly host events.

The properties will include dog parks, and first-floor apartments will have small private yards.
