KATY - The Katy Development Authority has entered into an agreement with Houston-based Sueba USA Corp. to develop a 22-acre portion of the Katy Boardwalk District.

Sueba’s mixed-use development is expected to include loft living space, retail and restaurant facilities, and a public plaza.

The Boardwalk District, which also will include a convention center, hotel and restaurant row, will be anchored by an 89-acre park with a lake, boardwalk, nature preserves and a two-mile walking trail system.

Preliminary plans for the district were released in January. They included a 73,000-sf conference center and a 204,000-sf hotel, as well as 241,000 sf of retail space and 250,000 sf of office space.

The project is expected to take eight to ten years to develop.
