San Antonio: Joske’s Alamo Experience to 30,000-SF museum
SAN ANTONIO – A museum with the tentative name, Alamo
Experience, is under development in the Joske’s building at Rivercenter mall.
Renovation of space for the museum will cost $1.5 million,
and is set to begin October 2015 and finish December 2015, according to
architectural records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
An electrical permit issued by the city indicates the museum
will span 29,551 sf.
The museum will join an H&M and a two-story Dave &
Busters in the Joske’s building, which has been undergoing a
multimillion-dollar renovation since October 2013.
The mall’s developers have stripped the historic building’s
interior, replacing its timber frames and cast-iron columns with concrete and
steel to boost its structural integrity.
The lead developer of the museum is BASE
Entertainment.
