WACO - A 22,000-sf Cavender’s Boot City superstore has opened in Central Texas Marketplace at I-35 and West Loop 340, leaving behind a smaller space in Westview Village it had occupied for 20 years.

At Westview Village, Cavender’s occupied 16,757 sf since 1995, according to Vivian Griffith, a bookkeeper at Hoppenstein Properties, which owns the shopping center at Valley Mills Dr. and Waco Dr.

The opening of Cavender’s coincides with several other developments at Central Texas Marketplace, among them the opening of Five Below, a store that exclusively sells merchandise priced between $1 and $5.

It operates in the retailing strip taking shape between Cabela’s and Office Depot.

Meanwhile, crews have erected slab forms for a new 15,000-sf La-Z-Boy “home furnishings and decor” store near Twin Peaks.

And finish-out work has begun on lease space for a Charming Charlie store that will sell jewelry, handbags and apparel.
