AUSTIN – While some cities across the state, such as Fort Worth and Houston, are among the country's 153 metro areas that have lost construction jobs in the past year, the Capital City's construction industry has stayed relatively level.

According to federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America, Austin gained 100 construction jobs between August 2014 and 2015. The area had 52,000 people employed in construction this August.

The oil price drop has affected Fort Worth and Houston, which lost 6,000 and 3,700 construction jobs this past year. Fort Worth topped the national list with the largest loss of construction jobs.

Meanwhile, Beaumont increased its number of construction jobs by 16 percent this past year.
