AUSTIN – It has been nearly two years since the Austin City Council approved a contract with Scott Airport Parking LLC to build a covered parking facility for 2,000 cars at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and the project is finally starting construction.

There is an unconventional amenity, too — a pet boarding facility named "Bark & Zoom." Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will soon include a pet boarding facility on-site.

Both services will open in summer 2016 near the intersection of Presidential Blvd. and Texas Hwy. 71 on airport property and be open 24/7.

The parking facility is named "Park & Zoom."

Initially, the pet boarding facility will cover just under 14,000-sf and be served by 100 parking spaces. Capacity will be 150 dogs and 25 cats, Chris Von Dohlen, managing director of Scott Airport Parking said.

The pet hotel will be operated by Austin-based Taurus Academy, a pet care company currently with five locations.
