​​​​​​​​​LUBBOCK - The 2015 Student Housing report has been released by Coldwell Banker Commercial.

The entire sample used two zones for the student housing survey — Inside Overton and Outside Overton — a total of 325 acres.

The entire sample set features 12,828 beds and 5.9 million sf, with the smallest set containing 112 beds and the largest with 876 beds.

Growth can be attributed to the increase of students attending Texas Tech University, TTU Health Sciences Center, South Plains College at Reese Center, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland Baptist University and several small colleges enroll a total of over 55,000 students on their Lubbock campuses.

The average rental in the Inside Overton zone is $1.45 per sf and Outside Overton zone is $1.29 per sf.

Average occupancy is at 96 percent and average rental rates fell from $1.37 to $1.33 this year.

The Lubbock student housing market remains one of the top-performing commercial real estate markets in West Texas.
