SAN ANTONIO - The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has acquired Med Centre Plaza — a nearly 102,000-sf office building at Fredericksburg Rd. and Wurzbach Rd.

The $12.3 million transaction will provide much needed space for UT Medicine, the academic medical practice for the Health Science Center's School of Medicine.

Health Science Center President Dr. William Henrich said the UT System Board of Regents approved $15 million for the acquisition and renovation of the Northwest Side building, which is ideally situated at the gateway to the South Texas Medical Center.

Nearly $3 million will be invested to improve the property, which was built in 1986.

The Health Science Center plans to move some UT Medicine personnel to Med Centre Plaza.

Med Centre Plaza is currently 73 percent occupied.

The Health Science Center has leased more than 17,000 sf in the building for its Informational Management System staff.
