Lubbock: students gallop in, housing stampedes forward
LUBBOCK – With the growing number of students enrolling in Texas
Tech, on-campus housing options are not the only ones feeling the
increased stress to accommodate students.
In Lubbock, many student housing complexes are full or at 95 percent or above.
As a result, companies from outside of Lubbock are looking to build more student housing.
One new student apartments is18Nineteen, a complex owned by Haven Campus Community out of Atlanta. Construction is south of Glenna Goodacre.
The 18Nineteen complex will spread over about six acres and offer both two-bedroom and four-bedroom floor plans.
With 217 units and 732 beds, 18Nineteen will be leasing for the fall 2016 school year.
With
the growth Texas Tech administration is expecting within the next five
years, new complexes like these will give rising freshmen more housing
options when looking for a place to live for their sophomore year.
This is Haven’s first complex in Lubbock. Other Haven complexes have been built at Kennesaw State University, Mississippi State University and University of West Georgia.
