SAN ANTONIO – Despite this year’s lower oil prices, crude oil production is still rising in Texas.

According to the Texas Railroad Commission, June crude oil production averaged 2.43 million barrels daily, up from the 2.16 million the state pumped in June 2014.

However, the Railroad Commission issued only 979 drilling permits in July, down from 2,419 permits in July 2014.

Texas operators completed 13,333 wells through July of this year, down from 18,101 wells during the first seven months of 2014.
