ROUND ROCK - The City of Round Rock is moving forward with multiple building projects, trying to stay ahead of rising construction costs in the area.

“We’ve seen a 20 percent rise [in construction costs] since last year already,” said Chad McDowell, Round Rock General Services director. “Which is huge when you’re talking $20 million projects.”

Future building p​rojects include a library, Fire Station No. 3, and a Fire and Police Training Facility.

Current projects in Round Rock:

  • Round Rock Sports Center Building B: With a $1.2 million budget, the status is under construction with has an estimated completion set for December 2015.

  • Two Fire Stations: With a $4 million budget, the start dates are in November with an estimated completion set for December 2016.

  • Rock’N River Family Aquatic Center expansion: With a $6.7 million budget, the status is under construction with an estimated completion set for May 1, 2016.
