HOUSTON – Chicago-based United Airlines and the Houston Airport System will break ground May 11 on the airline’s new Terminal C North concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

The $244 million project will create a 265,000-sf concourse including 20 new dining and retail options along with 11 boarding gates, which will accommodate a mix of United’s narrow-, mid- and wide-body aircraft.

The rebuilding of Terminal C North is part of a larger IAH overhaul that includes demolishing and rebuilding Terminal D, an international terminal. Plans for the new Terminal D, to be called the Mickey Leland International Terminal, were unveiled in April 2014.

Meanwhile, United and the City of Houston recently completed a $149 million makeover of the Terminal B South concourse at IAH.

With all the additional dining and retail space being created at IAH, several new concepts are planned for the airport, including many Houston favorites. And to accommodate all the additional traffic, the Houston City Council recently approved building a new long-term parking lot.
