Enrollment at Texas State fifth in Texas
SAN MARCOS – Texas State University announced record-breaking fall enrollment numbers in September, with 34,229 students enrolled for the fall. This is the 15th consecutive year the university has broken its enrollment record.
Undergraduate enrollment totaled 29,461, a growth of 502 students from the fall 2011 semester. Graduate enrollment is 4,088 and post-baccalaureate students total 680.
Minorities make up 40 percent of the total enrollment at Texas State. Hispanic enrollment saw a small increase to 28 percent and African-American enrollment is 7 percent.
The university’s fall enrollment makes it the fifth-largest university in Texas, behind the University of North Texas-Denton and ahead of the University of Texas-Arlington.
Texas A&M University was first with 53,337 students. The University of Texas at Austin was bumped to second with a total enrollment of 52,213 students for the fall semester.
