The city council yesterday approved sales and ad valorem tax grants for the Wade Park project. Incentives also include infrastructure improvements paid through the local economic development and community development corporations.

To receive the incentives, Wade Park must have at least 550,000 sf of retail, restaurant, hotel and entertainment, and at least one Class-A office building of at least 16 stories, before Dec. 31, 2017.

Phase-one construction is scheduled to begin this spring. The first phase will encompass about 110 of the 175-acre development.

Whole Foods is slated to open there in September 2016. Other tenants that have been announced are Hotel ZaZa, iPic Theaters and Pinstripes Bowling, Bocce and Bistro.
