SAN ANTONIO (San Antonio Business Journal) – The city council last week approved $41 million in upgrades for the 22-year-old Alamodome.
Improvements, which are intended to help the city attract events that will have a significant economic impact, will include a new video wall system and expanded concourses.
The city is authorized to negotiate and execute a design-build agreement with Turner Construction Co. and execute an amendment to a contract with Project Control of Texas Inc. for design review, construction inspections and other oversight functions associated with the renovations.
Global design firm Populous and locally based Marmon Mok Architecture will oversee the design work.
Renovations could begin as early as August, said Mike Sawaya, director of the city's convention, sports and entertainment facilities department.
