The three-story, 60,000-sf Cardwell Collaborative building is named after Jack Cardwell, a local businessman who made a substantial but undivulged donation for the building’s construction. It will house the RedSky biomedical institute, labs for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, and lab space for startups.

In November, the city council approved the sale of the city property for $2 million to MCA Tech Park Inc. and MCA Revere Realty Inc.
