AUSTIN (Transwestern) – Transwestern Development Co. and its partners have broken ground on a two-building project that will bring office, retail and residential space to 1621 and 1645 E. 6th St.

The first building is a 94,500-sf creative office building that is scheduled for completion next January.

The second building, The Arnold, will be finished in July 2016. It will have 346 apartments and "9,600 sf of specialty retail at three key intersections of the property," according to a Transwestern press release.

The development is on 4.2 acres at the intersection of E. 6th Street and Comal Ave.

Amegy Bank of Texas and Comerica Inc. provided financing. Kirksey Architecture designed the office portion of the project, and Wilder Belshaw Architects designed The Arnold. The general contractors are Harvey Cleary for the office portion and Andres Construction for the other. KimballBruehlGarciaEstes is the civil engineer for both buildings.
