H-E-B set to open 64,000-SF Beaumont store

BEAUMONT – H-E-B’s new 64,000-sf supermarket at the corner of College St. and 11th St. will open on May 27. The store’s fuel station and car wash will open May 15.

The $5.3 million supermarket, gas station and car wash is expected to employ about 250 people and be half the size of the H-E-B Plus store opened in 2006 on Dowlen Rd.

Its operation will prompt the closure of two H-E-B Pantry stores, one around the corner on 11th St. and the other on Lucas Dr.

H-E-B began construction in November on the site formerly home to Baptist Hospital, demolished in June 2013.
