‘Independent’ Thinking Yields Another Austin Highrise

AUSTIN (Columbus Communications LLC) – Constructive Venture and Aspen Heights are developing The Independent, a 58-story condo tower.

The 950,000-sf project will be at the northeast corner of West 3rd St. and West Ave. It will have 370 units ranging from 675 to 3,485 sf. Prices will range from the mid-$300,000s to over $3 million.

Constructive Ventures entered into a master development agreement with the City of Austin for the 1.7-acre site, which is the former Austin Energy Control Center location, back in 2010.

The city’s economic development department is leading the project on behalf of the city. Rhode: Partners is the project’s architect.
