Builder Selected for Corpus Christi's New Harbor BridgeBuilder Selected for Corpus Christi's New Harbor Bridgehttps://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=101822015-05-01T14:50:00Z2015-05-01T00:00:00Z

In the works for 14 years, the new bridge will have a flatter bridge grade than the existing structure, new lighting and other safety enhancements, as well as a new interchange joining US 181, I-37 and the Crosstown Expy. It will have three travel lanes in each direction, full-width shoulders and a hike-and-bike path.

In addition, it will have a higher clearance at about 205 ft., giving the Port of Corpus Christi access to the largest oceangoing vessels, including ships traveling through the expanded Panama Canal.

Construction is expected to begin later this year or early next year. It will take about five years to complete.
