Legal Issues
Effective Jan. 1, 2008, all residential leases must contain language in underlined or bold print that informs tenants of their remedies available under the Texas Property Code. To assist Texans in complying with this requirement, the Real Estate Center has reproduced the two sections of the law in a format that can be added as an addendum to any written residential lease. The required information in the heading must be inserted, and the parties must sign and date the addendum at the end.
