(Downtown Amarillo) - The City of Amarillo has approved a $6.7 million building permit for the redevelopment of the existing 92,208-sf Fisk Building in downtown Amarillo.
The 724 South Polk property will be transformed into a Courtyard by Marriott. Marriott plans to keep the historic outside of the building intact, but to remodel what's inside completely.
Once complete, the ten-story building will be home to 108 guest rooms, according to the City of Amarillo.
According to Marriott, the hotel will be state-of-the-art, with a bistro cafe, a business center, a fitness center, and covered parking.
The new hotel is expected to be open by the summer of 2010.
Marriott says growth in and around Amarillo led them to approve an ambitious renovation project.
